After graduating from Wayne State University with my BFA in Dance, I moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to pursue a career as a professional dancer. As time went on I found myself feeling unfulfilled and wanting to contribute more to my community. I pursued a Master's Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, graduating in 2020. While at Drexel, I gained clinical experience in a variety of therapeutic settings with diverse populations. Since returning to Michigan I have worked with cognitively challenged students in schools, adult psychiatric patients on a short-term crisis unit, and as a private practitioner with teens, adults, and their families.
I understand the importance of providing quality services for girls and women and believe it is an honor and a privilege to provide individualized care to my clients. I am grateful for the trust my clients have in me and the therapeutic process.
I strive to facilitate a collaborative and safe experience to help my clients recognize their own wisdom and strength so they can gain confidence and ownership of their lives. I believe my clients are the experts of their lives, and I am there to simply guide them towards healing.
I often begin by asking my clients what kind of change they'd like to see in their lives. This allows us to begin with the understanding that the therapeutic process will be based off of their needs, and their needs alone. As the therapist I ask questions, identify patterns of behavior, and offer feedback when requested. My therapeutic approach includes Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). It is important that my clients know I take my role as a therapist and trusted partner seriously. This work is challenging, rewarding, exciting, and at times transcendent. I pride myself on approaching each session with the intention to do no harm, and provide each client with the kind of guidance and support that fulfills their individual needs.
